Hello Craftees, we are now finally on the sixth block in the Remember Me Fidget Blanket Crochet pattern. It has been exciting so far with each of the blocks and their different functions.

When I was designing the roped panel block, I though of shoe lacing. I imagined this block to be one that mimics when someone is lacing their shoes, the repetitive action of fitting the lace into each hole as a therapeutic exercise.

FIDGET BLANKET CROCHET PATTERN FOR DEMENTIA- BLOCK 6
Gauge on most blocks: 12 rows/15 sts across= 4 inches/10cm
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn
- 4.5mm & 5mm hooks
- Shoe lace
- Zipper (6” long/1.2″ wide)
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissor
Stitches/Abbreviation:
- HDC- half double crochet
- SC- single crochet
- CH- chain
- SL ST- slip stitch
Notes:
- Pattern is written in U.S terms
- Chain 1 at the beginning of row does not count as a stitch

PATTERN
Row 1: Chain 30, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across. Ch 1, turn
Rows 2-20: HDC across. Ch 1, turn. Continue to edging
EDGING– You will only be making edging on 3 sides.
Ch 1, SC 20 evenly on the side, Ch 1, SC 29 at the bottom, Ch 1, SC 20 on the side, Ch 1, join to 1st HDC. Snip yarn, weave in tail. (at this point, you may want to place stitch markers in those Ch 1s).
ROPED PANELS – make 2
Row 1: leave a 10-inch tail. Chain 17, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across. ch 1, turn
Rows 2-6: HDC across, ch 1, turn
Row 7: (on the first panel only) SC 1, Ch 2, skip next st, *SC 2, ch 2, skip next st. repeat from * 3 times. SC in last 2 sts
Row 7: (on the second panel only) *SC 2, Ch 2, skip next st. repeat from * 4 times. SC in last st. Ch 1, turn
Row 8: SC in 1st st, and into each st across (make 1 SC in the Ch 2 spaces). Snip yarn.
FINISHING
Place panels on fabric with the same sides facing up (you would know this by looking at the last row of stitches- they would both be on the Right Side).
Sew the panels (use the tail you left at the beginning) on the sides only, pass the shoe lace through, sew the zipper, weave in tails, snip yarn.
