Bean Blocks Minimalist Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern

I have named this pattern Bean Blocks Crochet Baby Blanket. Well, I think it is obvious why, right? I have been using the crochet bean stitch in a couple of designs, and I intend to create more designs with the stitch to provide a variety of patterns for you, my lovely crocheters, with options on getting started with or exploring the bean stitch.

If you are new to the crochet bean stitch, why not start here? It is pretty easy to master, and the texture is just so pretty. I mentioned some ideas of best yarns to use for this stitch type, projects to make with it, plus you get to make your first pattern using the crochet bean stitch. You may also want to try this beginner friendly crochet earwarmer pattern or this very stylish and multi-use infinity scarf.

The Bean Blocks Blanket is a simple and subtle design with each bean stitch block forming a patterned design. Looking from afar, it is hard to see the beauty of the blanket or the delicate patterning, upon a closer look, one will see the pattern clearly. Of course, the type of yarn used will determine how textured the blanket will look and feel. This pattern uses a soft acrylic yarn, but if you used a cotton/acrylic blend or just cotton, the texture will ‘pop’ through the picture.

CUSTOMISE THE MINIMALIST CROCHET BABY BLANKET

This minimalist crochet baby blanket is easy to customise, all you need to start the chain in a multiple of twenty-one multiplied by an even number, then add one more chain at the end to begin the first row. Also, you can use larger yarn weights for this pattern, it can be adapted to work with different yarn weights.

  1. Thanks, I understand there is a set of rows to repeat to get to 120, but if the pattern details to row 22 and the states to repeat rows 11 – 30, which rows are to be repeated – rows 11 to 22? Can you see how it is confusing?
Thanks for your attention to my questions.

    1. I do see how it is confusing. I have made corrections, I hope it becomes more understandable now. Let me know if you still have more questions about the pattern. Thank you.

  2. Lovely blanket. Can I ask for clarification after row 22? The directions state Rows 23 – 120, repeat 11-30, there are no rows 23 to 30. Perhaps there is a typo? Then not sure what 1st side, 2nd side, etc refer to and there appears to be multiple rounds of that. Any clarity you can bring to these steps would be helpful. Thanks,
    Maureen

    1. By the time the rows have been repeated you will have 30 rows that you will then repeat up to row 120. The sides are each of the corners, I use that to differentiate the top, left side, bottom and right side of the border. If you want, you can refer to the video tutorial for a guide. I hope it is a little clearer? If not, let me know how else I can help.

      1. Thank you. I still don’t understand what rows to crochet for rows 23-30, will it be rows 11 and 12 alternating? Thanks
