Before you start joining, I would encourage that you place a stitch marker in each of the chain 1s at the corners of the blocks, it would help a great deal to determine where to be working into as you make the border. And after you complete joining the blocks, I recommend leaving the stitch markers in, then moving them into the necessary stitches on the first round of the border.

Fidget Blanket Crochet Pattern- How to Join Blocks
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn
- 5mm hook
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissor
Stitches/Abbreviation:
- HDC- half double crochet
- SC- single crochet
- CH- chain
- SL ST- slip stitch
- Popcorn stitch- Make 5 DCs (TRs) in the same stitch, take out hook from the 5th DC, insert it in the 1st DC from front to back into the 5th DC, pull out the loop, Chain 1.

JOINING THE BLOCKS
- Use a tapestry needle and 30-inch yarn to join the blocks (refer to the video tutorial for guide).
- Join yarn with the blocks faced down.
- Start joining at the top, from the marked Ch 1 and under the loops of the stitches. – once the middle is done, repeat the same process for the horizontal joining.

BORDER
Round 1. Tip– place st marker in the middle SC st of the 3SC set
At the Top– Insert yarn in the 1st st (after the Ch 1). Ch 1, SC in same st and nxt 28 sts, in the centre, make 3HDCs (there is no ‘set’ stitch for the HDC, you just want to make sure that you work in the middle space- (see photo 3 on the pictorial above). Continue to work SC into the remaining sts across. In the last st at the end of the row (right next to the marked Ch 1), make 3SC, skip the Ch 1
At the 1st Side– Continue to make SC into each st on the side.
At the horizontal joining, Ch 1, SC into the next block. Repeat same as you go on to the 3rd block. Finish with 3SC in the last st on the side of the block.
At the Bottom– skip Ch 1, SC into each st till the vertical joining, 3HDCs in the centre, SC in nxt st and each st across
At the 2nd Side– 3SC in nxt st, SC into each st till the joining, Ch 1, SC across in the nxt block, Ch 1 over the joining, SC across to the last st on the block, skip the marked Ch 1.
Finish with 2SC in the 1st st where you began Round 1. Join to the 1st st.

Round 2
At the Top– Ch 1, SC into the same st., and each st till the centre 3HDC. Ch 1, skip 1 st, Popcorn in nxt, Ch 1, sk nxt st., SC into the remaining sts till the 3SC at the corner. SC in nxt st, Ch 1, Popcorn in nxt, Ch 1, SC in nxt st.
At the 1st Side– *SC into each st on the side of the 1st block. Popcorn in the Ch 1 at the joining. Repeat from * the same process for the other two blocks. At the end of the 3rd block (the 3SC corner). SC in nxt st., Ch 1, Popcorn in nxt, Ch 1, SC in nxt st.
At the Bottom– SC into each st across till the 3HDC at the centre. Ch 1, skp 1 st, Popcorn in the nxt, Ch 1, skp 1 st, SC across till nxt 3SC set, SC in nxt st, Ch 1, Popcorn in nxt st, Ch 1, SC in nxt.
At the 2nd Side– repeat as for the 1st side. At the last 2 sts, SC in nxt, Ch 1, Popcorn in nxt st, Ch 1, join to the 1st st. Snip yarn, weave in tails
Once you finish joining and making the border for your fidget blanket crochet pattern, BLOCK THE BLANKET. Seriously, this is an important last step to iron out all kinks in the blanket, so that you come out with a nice, well proportioned piece.
