This crochet summer vest pattern was first published under craft-her blog. This is version has been updated and permanently moved to YarnCraftee blog.
This crochet vest pattern proved to be a quick one to make, and that’s because it uses tall stitches. These tall stitches also create an airy fabric, which makes the vest such a comfy layer for summer.
If you are familiar with the crochet patterns I design on Yarn Craftee, you may have noticed that I enjoy designing layers. Some other airy summer pieces you can try are the crochet summer cover-up, this one is a personal favourite; I really like the wavy design and fringed bottom. A similar design to the crochet summer cover-up is the leaf lace shawl, with wavy leaf pattern designs you will find it quite pretty and elegant.
Then, there is the crochet mesh cardigan, which gives you the opportunity for a versatile design with the colours you choose to incorporate.

CONSTRUCTION
We crochet the back panel first, the move to the right front and left front panel. Each of these panels are then joined at the sides to the back panel. Once the joining is done, the edges at the bottom of the vest, around the armhole are trimmed.

YARN
In the materials likst, I have mentioned using a DK weight yarn or Sport weight. So, you could use either of the yarn weights available to you, but with the same hook size. The difference would be, the piece with the sport weight yarn would have wider spaces than the other. This lightweight crochet summer vest in the photos is made with DK yarn. For a selection of cotton DK yarns, see some on Lovecraftscom.
BLOCK your Crochet Summer Vest. Two ways you can block it:
- 1. Soak it in water, squeeze it out and spread to dry
- 2. Soak it in water, squeeze it, spread it on a mat, pin it down to dry
Tip: shape the curve at the front to be the same width and shape before and Pin them down.
