The triangles block is one of the easiest of all the blocks in the Remember Me Fidget Blanket Crochet pattern. You only need four coloured buttons for the embellishment.
The idea behind the triangle block is to mimic the actions of buttoning and unbuttoning a piece of clothing. With the repetitive action, it can help reduce anxiety and keep hands busy.

FIDGET BLANKET CROCHET PATTERN FOR DEMENTIA- BLOCK 5
Gauge on most blocks: 12 rows/15 sts across= 4 inches/10cm
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn
- Contrast coloured yarn
- 4 coloured buttons (about half an inch diameter)
- 4.5mm & 5mm hooks
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissor
Stitches/Abbreviation:
- HDC- half double crochet
- SC- single crochet
- CH- chain
- SL ST- slip stitch
Notes:
- Pattern is written in U.S terms
- Chain 1 at the beginning of row does not count as a stitch

PATTERN
Row 1: Chain 30, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across. Ch 1, turn
Rows 2-20: HDC across. Ch 1, turn. Continue to edging,
EDGING– You will only be making edging on 3 sides.
Ch 1, SC 20 evenly on the side, Ch 1, SC 29 at the bottom, Ch 1, SC 20 on the side, Ch 1, join to 1st HDC. Snip yarn, weave in tail. (at this point, you may want to place stitch markers in those Ch 1s).
Triangles– make 4 (2 in Main colour, 2 in Contrast colour)
Row 1: Chain 12, SC in 2nd ch from hook, SC 10. Ch 1, turn
Row 2: SC2tog, SC 7, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 3: SC across. ch 1, turn
Row 4: SC2tog, SC 5, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 5: SC across. ch 1, turn
Row 6: SC2tog, SC 3, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 7: SC 2, Ch 2, skip 1 st, SC 2. Ch 1, turn
Row 8: SC2tog, SC 1 in ch 2 space, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 9: SC3tog. Snip yarn, weave in tails
FINISHING
Refer to photo to the block (and video tutorial) and position your triangles accordingly. Sew ONLY the widest part of the triangles onto the fabric, and the buttons also; positioning the buttons right in the middle of the Chain 2 spaces.
