Hello craftees, here is a nice, cozy, textured and twisted crochet earwarmer you can make in a sitting. The Pine Crochet Baby Earwarmer not just gives an appealing look with its rugged texture, it also serves as a warm layer over the ears.

One of the ways I use up left-over yarn is to design crochet headband and earwarmers. It usually works up quick and they make nice gifts for friends, family or anyone I feel led to gift to. To be honest, I have crocheted so many earwarmers and headbands that I have lost count, yet it remains one of my favourite projects to crochet.
The Pine Baby Crochet Earwarmer gets its name from part of the Alpine Stitch, a textured crochet stitch that uses front posts to create a rugged yet appealing fabric. If you really looked at it, the stitch somewhat resembles a pine cone, so I think it fits to name this the Pine Crochet Earwarmer. Another design using the Crochet Alpine Stitch is this Chunky Crochet Sweater for Boys, a really cool pattern to make for young ones.
The Pine Crochet Baby Earwarmer is designed in baby to child size. Of course, this can be adjusted for an adult, with just a few more beginning chains, you can make one for yourself as well (I have added notes for that in the AD-free version). Also, if making the Pine Crochet Baby Earwarmer for an adult and you want to make it as a headband, all you need do is reduce the number of rows.
YARN
I experimented with different yarns for the Pine Crochet Baby Earwarmer. They were all worsted weight yarns, though with different textures. They each amounted to the same gauge after the first three rows of slip stitches. I liked the yarn that was soft yet sturdy, the texture was great while still retaining some softness, so there was less stiffness. I have made some recommendations in the materials list for the ones I think will work great.

FINISHING
Fold the piece so that the wrong side is facing out, and the ends are interlocked. See photo below.
Sew through all the ends together. Weave in all tails.
Tip– If the headband feels snug to wear, widen it by placing your hands inside and stretch it gently, that will help loosen the stitches some.
