The first thing that comes to mind about this Seashell Inspired Crochet Coaster is the beach. I’d like to think I’m not alone in that thought.

Seashell Inspired Crochet Coaster

I first designed this crochet coaster pattern in 2018, under my former blog LoopinglyMade. While looking through most of my older patterns (that are being gradually updated to be published on Yarn Craftee), I realised I had come a long way in designing crochet patterns. I still get some misses, but I have had many hits with patterns I have designed over the years.

I’m indeed thankful for the growth I have experienced in all this time, and I hope to continue designing crochet items and sharing them with fellow yarn craft enthusiasts.

This Seashell Inspired Crochet Coaster now has its new home here. It did not require any major updates, I’ve only reworked the decreases in a different way and used a different colour to show another look.

CONSTRUCTION

This Seashell Inspired Crochet Coaster is made in continuous circular rows. It could be a bit confusing at first, but with the video tutorial it is easy to master. Working into the back loops of the half double crochet stitches creates the ribbing effect to give the coaster a textured, scalloped look.

YARN

I always recommend cotton yarn for this kind of project or crochet items for home and spaces. Reason is, cotton material is more durable overtime, it can with stand heat better too. Though this pattern calls for DK weight yarn, you could make it in worsted weight yarn too, it’s just going to be slightly bigger.
