The holidays are upon us as October flies past. This crochet star motif is a pretty decorative piece that can be used in other ways besides ‘decoration’.

Holiday Crochet Star Motif pattern

I am collaborating with Marie of Underground Crafter and 21 other wonderful designers to bring you holiday makes. Every year, Marie hosts the Holiday Stashdown CAL the aim is to use what you already have in your yarn storage to create a holiday project.

From 4, October to 16, December there will be a new holiday pattern each week for you to crochet (at your own pace). There will also be a giveaway so if you intend to enter, check out Underground Crafter for more details.

Last year, I designed these little gift pouches with some holiday colours. They are handy, easy, fun to make and take less than 70 meters of yarn to make.

Ways to use the Crochet Star Motif

This year I decided to design a festive piece, it is for the holidays after all. This crochet star pattern is quick to make, just five rounds.

– use it as not only a decorative piece by hanging it

– use it as a motif on another design

– use it as a coaster, yes of course

– make it into a bunting, make lots of them and join

So, you can use any yarn that is the same weight as mentioned in the pattern. I took the liberty of using 3 different yarns to make this star pattern. The red star is made with acrylic yarn, the blue star with cotton yarn, the green star with a blend of cotton and acrylic yarn, all worsted weight.

Blocking

Likely, the crochet star will appear scrunched. Easily fix this by blocking the motifs.
