Fancy a tapestry crochet wall hanging decor? This is the second time I would be designing a decorative piece, the first time was practice; I like this one much better.

This tapestry crochet wall hanging is the last pattern in the Cozy at Home CAL with Marie at Underground Crafter. This Crochet Along features twelve designers bringing you different lovely patterns to make for your home. You can see all previous designs here.

I always love participating in Marie’s crochet-along because they give you many options on items to crochet for specific themes, and they are usually quick items you can make.

Tapestry Crochet Diamond Wall Hanging

This pattern uses the tapestry crochet technique; a lovely technique that allows you to ‘paint’ with crochet. If you are not very familiar with the tapestry crochet technique, there are tons of tutorials that can help. The pattern also details when to change yarn; following the chart too will help a great deal.

This tapestry crochet wall hanging is a very lovely wall decor to have in your space with its vibrant colours and unique design. It is also a quick pattern to make; you can get it done in five to six days.

Gauge is not that important for this pattern, it all depends on how large you want your wall hanging to be. The yarn I have used in this pattern quite thick; even though it is labeled as Aran weight, it is thicker than regular yarn in same weight. I experienced some difficulty with it, my fingers hurt a lot because they were not used to such thick yarn.

However, if you need a piece as large as in the pattern, you could combine 2 strands of worsted weight yarn and an appropriate hook. I highly recommend blocking this crochet wall hanging as it will help to stretch the crimps (from colour changing) and make your piece look smooth(er).

If what you need is a simpler and faster wall hanging or decor, you can try the Crochet Star Motif.
