You may already know me from the blog LoopinglyMade, which was then changed to Craft-Her. You might want to read the back story on how I got here.
I don’t know about you, but with the numerous changes in the world after the pandemic hit, I have made an effort to embrace nature, natural things, recyclable things, reusable things more. It just feels like humans keep using things without much consideration for the earth. For the first time in a very long time a lot of us could attest to how clean the air smelled, how clear the sky was, and I bet we definitely had more appreciation for food.
Celebrating Earth day should be a way of life, not just something we do once a year when the mood strikes. I believe that when we are good to the earth, she gives us her very best. Afterall, the earth is a living thing and was made to produce for us humans. With that in mind, I decided to make this eco-friendly market bag. This is an accessory you can use and reuse for as long as the cotton material holds (which will be a long time).
CONSTRUCTION
The first part of the eco-friendly market bag is worked flat in rows. The next part is worked in filet crochet and single crochet rounds till you reach the desired number of rows and fix the handles.

Crochet bags are one of the projects I like to crochet from time to time. It is often easier to come up with bag ideas and they require less calculations in measurements. For more crochet bag patterns, try these below:
- Crochet hook or pencil case – or crayon case too.
- Crochet Drawstring Pouch – this one can be made with left-over yarn.
- Puff Stitch Flap Bag– a handy a pretty casual bag.
- Reversible Drawstring Bag– I think I like reversible designs a lot.
- Reversible Carry-all Tote– can be used as a market bag too.

Some of the directions were unclear. Glad I’m an experienced crocheter because I could see a beginner getting confused. But I do love this pattern! I’m actually doing my own color pattern and it’s looking good.
