The geoprint drawstring crochet bag is one of my favourite patterns. It reminds me of tribal colours and prints, and in this tutorial I am going to guide you through how to make it.

Tapestry Crochet is such a beautiful technique for experimenting with colour. As a designer who struggles with the right colour combos, it gives me a bird’s eye view of what a project could look like when I create a chart. So far, I have designed this bag in four different colour schemes and they have all turned out quite lovely. I have attached two colour schemes for you to use, but feel free to make your own colour combos.

First things first, if you do not know how to do the tapestry crochet technique, I have a full tutorial to guide you through it, and it shows you how to use the three major basic crochet stitches. So, start your tapestry crochet journey here.

How to Customise the GeoPrint Drawstring Crochet Bag

As much as possible, I like to create designs that can be customised easily. The geoprint drawstring bag is no different. So, if you are looking to customise this tapestry crochet bag, see the notes below:

  • To make a larger size using this patternand without disrupting the sequence, the bottom of the bag should be in multiples of 6 ending in an even number and divisible by 6 without a remainder.
  • To make a smaller version, use a lighter yarn weight like DK and a smaller hook as well; as seen in the grey, yellow and purple size.
